Thinking hosting was too competitive of a market, so I initially referred people to WordPress themes at $35 commission/sale… but there was actually plenty of room to make a mark in the hosting industry and I started earning $150 commission/sale
Michelle Schroeder-Gardner makes over $50,000 / month from affiliate marketing. She is her own boss, and lives the dream life (on the road) with her hubby. She’s recently released a course on affiliate marketing, right from the what-it-is to the how-to-do-it (legally) – and the results her students (like me) have seen so far have been incredible.
Say, for example, I have an interest in weight loss. I’d do some research using the free Affilorama lessons available to me, and in this case discover that there is a strong market interested in losing weight.
Thank you for detailed post. I am eagerly looking to start an affiliate website for Amazon products. Google search brought me on this page and I am happy to learn what the heck affiliate is all about.
Your page could be about any subject you have an interest in, but the three most profitable niches involve topics like health, relationships, and money. Choose a topic you enjoy and start building an active audience by sharing relevant information people will love. Once your page starts growing, consider using an affiliate program, like Amazon Associates, to start promoting products you know your audience will enjoy.
I absolutely LOVE affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing can feel quite passive and it makes location independence and traveling full-time much more enjoyable. You can create just one blog post or social media post, and potentially earn money from it years down the line, as long as you maintain it and keep generating traffic to it. With affiliate marketing, I can enjoy life more and know that I am still able to earn a great living promoting products that I use and enjoy.
This is the most important step in creating a successful YouTube channel. This does not mean, however, that you need a professional video editing studio and a $5,000 camera. While it is important to have clear and well edited audio and video, the most important aspect of these videos is the actual content itself. Providing a high quality, detailed and honest review of a product can be the determining factor of whether or not someone will purchase that product.
The niche you choose might draw enough interest from your audience when it comes to reading and acquiring knowledge, but are they willing to buy relevant products too? Without consumer interest in products, your niche isn’t going to make you much money.
I started using Amazon Affiliate Program. But i am using amazon.in, which means only people from India can buy through my reference link. So what if my visitors from other countries click on that link? They purchase the product, on getting redirected to amazon.com or amazon.co.uk. Is there any way by which I get benefit from users worldwide? Please help. I am too new to this.
The takeaway here is make sure your videos don’t need sound in order to be understood. Taking a little time to add captions could mean the difference between whether or not your Facebook videos get viewed.
Gavin is currently the Managing Partner of Disruptive Digital, a full-service digital agency based in Singapore offering creative, innovative & effective digital marketing campaigns that are driven by ROI.
When I first started, my overwhelming (and totally naive) impulse was to fill my pages with words and links that screamed “BUY THIS NOW!”. I didn’t help the reader learn why they should have this product. I only wanted them to click a link which would hopefully lead to a commission for me.
Even if you’re selling thousands of items a month, you’re still making less than a 10% commission. Because of this, I know a ton of people who make a little bit of money off of Amazon, but few who make thousands.
You can also use Facebook Conversion Pixels to see the long-tail effect of your video campaign. For example, if someone visits your site after watching an ad, leaves, and then comes back, that information would be shown in the conversions column of your Facebook ad analytics.
Facebook’s timing in expanding the mid-roll ads for live videos is not coincidental. The company has spent the past year paying celebrities and publishers to use its live video product, but many of those deals are coming to a close. VP of Partnerships Dan Rose said earlier this month that Facebook was planning to abandon most of those paid deals in favor of revenue splits on ads.

Good point about reviewing online courses before you promote them to protect your reputation. However, I would like to point out that the level of attention the course creator gives you (the endorser) and what they give to a random customer might be very different. There are so called marketing gurus out there who are extremely skilled at making false promises and not delivering on them. Once they have the endorsement of a few reputed marketers and some ‘lucky’ customers, they can easily get away with ripping other people off with hyped up money making guarantees. I have had a personal experience with this as a customer, but lets not mention names! The point is, when we are promoting someone, we need to do an in-depth due diligence. Only going through their course is not enough. It would be great if there was some kind of a course review site -something like tripadvisor. This is something that the industry really needs – something to make people accountable. A lot of people are losing faith in these online courses. I am staying away from promoting people unless I am very certain their integrity.
Great article as it gets me thinking about the various ways to monetize my sites. With that said, my biggest hurdle has been how to get started building traffic. You see articles all over the net talking about massive traffic techniques, but I’ve never really found a guide for a fresh blog/website and how to get to their first 100, 500, or 1,000 daily uniques. Of course writing consistent quality content is key, but writing alone an audience does not make. Any tips or articles to point us to? Thanks again Sean!
To increase your monetization, ensure that as many people as you can watch your product review video so that you can increase your income. There is only one way of making your video sell, deliver high-quality content in your video and see your YouTube sales swell.
That’s 4 sales in a month, and if those 4 sales were for that crazy expensive television, that’d be almost $5000 in commissions! (hurry go get the ‘vette!). But a more typical commission is closer to $25 -$30, or anywhere from $100-$120/month for those 4 sales.
When a user visits a publisher’s website and clicks an advertiser’s creative ad, the visitor’s browser receives the CJ tracking cookie that identifies the advertiser, the publisher, the specific creative and commission amount. This data is stored within the link information in what are called “parameters” and can include even more anonymous data used for attribution.
You can start with the products you use and know well and share your own experience. If you decide to build a website from scratch with the purpose of affiliate marketing and the topic is completely new to you, you will have to spend a lot of time doing proper research. It can bring great results, but before you dive in, first make sure you are enthusiastic about the chosen topic.
It doesn’t require specialized expertise. You don’t have to be a world-renowned expert in your niche. You only need to be familiar enough with your topic area to know what products are good and worth recommending to your audience.

At the same time, Facebook is changing when live videos are allowed to show ads, making the criteria stricter for becoming a partner. Too many low-quality live video creators met its initial requirements for activating ads and sharing in revenue, according to Facebook. The company doesn’t want to direct brand ads to sketchy videos, always a concern when showing ads alongside user-generated content online.

2) One of the main issues I see for an SEO consultant is getting descent content from the customer. They never have time and they don’t understand what is important. If you have to make up the articles up yourself, the content is quite crappy and not unique enough to make the difference;
The takeaway here is to expect your videos to do best on day one while continuing to drive views and engagement for about a week or less. Hope this helps clarify things a little bit, and thanks for reading.
I recently wrote up some research I’ve recently completed where I took the income and traffic from over 100 sites and worked out the RPM for each site. The Median RPM (I removed the top and bottom 20% of sites) for Affiliate marketing was $155.14 which compared well against Adsense at $9.97.
