Amazon and affiliate marketing in general is a decent way of making side income, but nothing really compares to making your own product or service that others will pay for, especially something that ppl will pay for month after month. WIth affiliate marketing, you’re basically helping retailers find lifelong customers, and you get a cut just once. Bad deal, IMO
You put an ad on your site and you get paid a predetermined amount for every 1000 pageviews on your site. So for example, let’s say you are working with an ad network that pays $2 CPM. Every time their ad is shown 1000 times on your site, they pay you $2. Pretend your site gets 50,000 pageviews a month (and a particular ad shows up on every one of those pages). That means you will be paid $100 that month for that ad because $2 for 50 thousands (times it is “viewed”) is $100. Make sense?
I am not going to go over the obvious bits in this article. I trust you to sign up for a Youtube account and think of a catchy username. However, I do feel the need to talk about other basics that can make or break the quality of your videos.
Do some research and find the campaigns that pay the most. For example, some CPC ads pay $.05 per click while others pay $10 per click. If you capitalize on the bigger ones, you’ll obviously make more.
Affiliates receive credit for a conversion by placing a cookie on the computer of visitors they send to a merchant site, allowing the network to attribute sales to specific partners. Many merchants will give credit for a sale to an affiliate even if the sale comes after the initial visit to the site. For example, assume:

93% of marketers use Facebook advertising regularly, which translates to about 3 million businesses that use Facebook to market their business. Furthermore, 70% of these businesses are outside the US.
Second, powerful as the Facebook video ads can reach a specific group, however, the video ads function is only available in the US. Therefore the maximum amount of users it can reach is around 140 million.
Cost per mille requires only that the publisher make the advertising available on his or her website and display it to the page visitors in order to receive a commission. Pay per click requires one additional step in the conversion process to generate revenue for the publisher: A visitor must not only be made aware of the advertisement but must also click on the advertisement to visit the advertiser’s website.
I’ve [followed your blog/read your book/taken your related course/used your related service] and [say a little about the results you’ve achieved]. It seems that [prospective affiliate product] could also be a good fit for my audience.
Another mistake affiliate marketers make is that they run ads just on their own sites. This isn’t wrong but there are just so many other sources of traffic that you have the chance to use for promotion all at the same time. The more the traffic that your sales page gets, the higher are your chances of making money online.
Thanks for all the great info. I have had some moderate success with amazon before, but nothing of that magnitude. The best selling lists have works for me, as well as creating a ‘recommended’ list or ‘library’ full of interesting products, although I have always found its better to actually be interesting in the recommendations rather than just plugging anything.
“There’s a spectrum of ways people are watching video on Facebook. There are shorter, on-the-go experiences and longer, lean-back experiences,” said Kate Orseth, a product marketing manager at Facebook. “We’re building ad products to match those experiences and behaviors.”
Hi, I watch a lot of YT videos, FB ads, and many another websites about affiliate marketing, but however, they explain all about it I’m still confused on how to do it. I want to know more, learn more about affiliate marketing.
This URL is used to keep track of all the traffic and sales you are making via your website or other promotional techniques. Many old-fashioned affiliate programs allow a buyer to add the email or referral details in an effort to account for affiliate sales, but this is certainly not the best way to track progress.
It’s an essential part of your success that you focus on just one niche at a time. Here’s what I mean. Don’t try to be like Amazon, selling thousands of different types of products. It may seem counterintuitive but promoting many products across many niches is not the best approach for first-time online entrepreneurs. To be honest, you can’t compete against Amazon or other catch-all internet retailers. You have a much better chance focusing on a niche market.
The point is this: instead of being an obstacle, sound-off videos can play to your advantage. Bold colors and dynamic text can capture people’s attention in the first few seconds — and spur them to turn up the volume later on.
Amazon’s obviously a really big one. It’s an easy one that a lot of people like to use. So I would start with Amazon if you’re new to affiliate links. The other places I would check would be CJ.com, LinkShare.com, ShareASale.com, and ImpactRadius.com. They’re like the affiliate networks or the houses that house all the different brands inside. So you can find the Wal-Marts and the Targets or whatever inside those networks. So once you get approved for their service, you can just start applying to all those different ones.
Awseme post. I never knew you could partner with youtube. I like how you can slip in branding, a link to your blog and an affliate link at once. I am now currently getting around 40% of my traffic from youtube in non IM markets.
First to say thanks for sharing this great article. Affiliated marketing is good way to make money online. I am just start my blog and make good commission. So it’s nice resource to make money fast. Your article is must helpful for newbie blogger like me.
Cookie stuffing involves placing an affiliate tracking cookie on a website visitor’s computer without their knowledge, which will then generate revenue for the person doing the cookie stuffing. This not only generates fraudulent affiliate sales but also has the potential to overwrite other affiliates’ cookies, essentially stealing their legitimately earned commissions.
The Amazon affiliate program is like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. If you can figure out where the rainbow ends you may do well. I’m still trying to figure out how the rainbow is made. Thanks for your tips. They are helping.
A 2-10 element array of link objects required for carousel ads. You should use at least 3 objects for optimal performance; 2 objects is for enabling lightweight integrations and using 2 objects can result in sub-optimal campaign results.
What do you think are the advantages of using MNF or MS over the other? Does one do something better than the other or do they do the same thing? I currently use MS, works great, just curious about MNF.
