Carly I’m so happy for you! And thankful for all you have done. Your series for the Computer Confused and Tech Troubled really helped me turn things around with getting my blog going. I still got a long way to go, but I’m making progress. It’s so inspiring to see your September income report and that you’re doing something that will allow you to realize your dreams of staying home with your child. I couldn’t be happier for you!
With Premium Video Ads, brands now have another way of engaging people on Facebook with compelling video experiences. We’ll roll out Premium Video Ads slowly and monitor how people interact with them. This limited introduction allows us to concentrate our efforts on a smaller number of advertisers with high-quality campaigns to create the best possible experience on Facebook.
Also, make sure you have a disclaimer on your website that advises your audience that you may have links that promote affiliate offers. This is necessary for several affiliate programs and also a basic courtesy to your website visitors. In the U.S., the FTC mandates disclosure for affiliate marketers (and anyone issuing endorsements), as well.
In a matter of 5 minutes, I’d made $500. I’d never made money like this via my website before. But it was that moment that I truly understood the power of building an audience and monetizing it through affiliate marketing.
The vision of my blog does not necessitate my making money from it, but I’m not closed off to the idea. But I’m having trouble envisioning how I would use affiliate marketing, except maybe to recommend certain books I read. My site is more of a devotional/Christian living-type blog. Do you have any other suggestions of ways I can use affiliate marketing? I might add a “LOVE THESE SITES” type page of things I really love. Maybe that’s overkill?
(Mailing) Lists are run like campaigns, spaced a few days apart. The income can be ‘decent’ provided the offering and the campaign was well thought of. However, I might add, it takes (months, if not years) to have such a list of so many people who opt-in, and the key point to note in lists is that they cater to a very specific vertical/niche. You can only market within that niche. Building such a huge list of subscribers takes a lot of money, so if the Question is can you make it – via lists, I would say, the jury is still out. I am ‘convinced’ it can be made, however, I have yet to see proof for the same. I don’t know what the big deal is why people cannot share proof.
Now we have Google’s upcoming requirement that your website be mobile-friendly. That has caused a scrambling to comply for a lot of webmasters. Have you done anything to ensure your sites are compliant to low, mid and upper tier level cell phones?
I seen the returns taken out. Are these charges coming directly from your pocket. Also does Amazon pay a percentage on each item? How does Amazon pay and how often? I would like to try something like this but have heard so many horror stories I been reluctant to try them
If people are looking for a new game console, it’s probably going to be one of the two. That said, I don’t recommend you choose these because due to the overwhelming amount of information about both – it’d be hard to rank well in the search engines for any terms related to them.

When I first heard about Facebook’s Ad Images Cheat Sheet, I was admittedly a tad nervous because the piece of content that has long been my biggest content driver is an image dimensions infographic. I worried that Facebook did the same — or even improved upon it.
We’ve seen many YouTubers (including very popular ones) who have links to their websites and Facebook pages in the description but don’t include a link to the product(s) they discuss. When an affiliate link adds value, don’t be shy about giving people opportunities to click on it. If you have content on your site, your social channels and your YouTube channel that is complemented by certain affiliate links, include those links in all of those places.
In a nutshell you make money on YouTube by becoming a YouTube partner, which allows you to display ads on your videos, and then you earn a percentage of the revenues generated by clicks on those ads, much like with AdSense. As for how much money you can actually make, I heard numbers anywhere from $3 up to $10 per 1,000 video views.
At first I was reluctant to promote Amazon.com due to the poor cookie duration and low commissions. However, since Amazon has a huge inventory, it’s a trusted site, and you also get credit for sales customers make even though you weren’t necessarily promoting that specific product, it tends to make up for the negatives, so I have started promoting Amazon more. Great post btw!
Before we get into details, let’s answer the question from our headline: can a small business benefit from Facebook Video Ads? Definitely! This is the simplest way to explain how the ads function: you upload your video, you set the budget, and you allow Facebook to promote it to your specific audience. You’ll get relevant views that can easily convert.
People will trust you more. You’re no longer some faceless person writing on a website; instead, you are a living, breathing human being that your audience can see. Even if you only produce short videos, it will be a chance for them to get to know you better.

If you’re one of the 1 billion active users on Facebook, then you’ve likely noticed a recent surge of video content taking over your News Feed. And if you’re anything like me, you’ve found this content shift enhances your Facebook browsing experience in most instances.
Google Autocomplete – go to google.com, start typing a phrase and look at the dropdown autocomplete results. You can use the underscore character “_” to have Google fill-in-the-blank. Just make sure the last character you type is an underscore. Try using plurals and change the word ordering to see different results. This is how I find 90% of my keywords.
Facebook has already been testing in-stream ads in videos over 90 seconds long for a number of months, but the addition of Watch content could create a host of new ad space for video advertisers to fill, provided the new shows succeed in attracting viewers and holding their attention.
Building up a large base of traffic is in itself a huge challenge. There’s an overwhelming amount of content on the Web dedicated to attracting visitors to your website, and we won’t go into any detail on the topic here. (Check out SEOmoz or Search Engine Land if you really want to read more).
Facebook’s publishing partners say the shows they are working on range from episodes two minutes in length all the way to one hour, and the company has also announced deals to air multi-hour sporting events such as Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer matches. Facebook hasn’t specified how much advertising time can be carried during publishers’ videos.
Only Cookware. This is one of several sites run by Amazon “super affiliates” Paula and Wanda. Their reviews feature affiliate links for visitors to purchase the products on Amazon, which nets them a commission in the neighborhood of 8.5%.

Some merchants are using outsourced (affiliate) program management (OPM) companies, which are themselves often run by affiliate managers and network program managers. OPM companies perform affiliate program management for the merchants as a service, similar to the role an advertising agencies serves in offline marketing.
Thanks for all the great info. I have had some moderate success with amazon before, but nothing of that magnitude. The best selling lists have works for me, as well as creating a ‘recommended’ list or ‘library’ full of interesting products, although I have always found its better to actually be interesting in the recommendations rather than just plugging anything.
As to the issues in IL… there are plenty of ways to avoid having your business closed up by an idiotic Governor including like moving your business to a neighboring state that’s actually business friendly. There are ways around the issues and I know I wouldn’t let Amazon shutting the program down in my state stop me. I can’t legally advise you what to do, but I’m just saying there are ways around it.
I absolutely see the value in affiliate sales (and Pay Flynn is one of the masters at doing this authentically and openly), but I got really turned off it when I saw a lot of bloggers I read and respect writing junky “How to set up a blog” posts that didn’t seem relevant to their audiences purely so that the could get the sweet Bluehost commissions in.
