I typically made between $500 and $1,000 a day every day during Black Friday Week, Cyber Monday and Cyber Week. It is lower during other holidays like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Presidents Day, Valentines Day etc. but you can still promote various sales during these holidays as well. I target every holiday because Amazon creates an actual dedicated sales page every time one of these holidays come around. The deals shared on these pages are generally really good too.
Ask around to find someone who really made it – in affiliate marketing, and the answer is you won’t find many. You will however find that most of them transition to some form of a product or service they sell to you, be it content writing, guru-ness teaching, learning the ropes, e-books, sales, etc. all to tell you how to make it in affiliate marketing world. Quite a contradiction.
great article currently trying to understand affiliate marketing really interested to start my own website not expecting high returns straight away but wants to experience and if possible put some hard work behind it to make it successful, any comments suggestions welcome:)
I have about 4 authority style sites and the rest are all mini ones. I like the money the mini’s can make but there isn’t any attractive exit strategy with those so that’s why I like to do a little of both, but I believe authority style sites have the biggest upside. As for income split I’d have to go back through all the tracking data but I’d peg it somewhat in favor of authority sites (before I sold one of my largest ones)
And if you haven’t bitten the bullet to start your blog yet? I have an easy to follow tutorial that’ll walk you through the how-to of setting up a blog. If you have any questions just get in touch ([email protected]) and ask ’em!
While these amounts are not in the thousands, it still goes to show how a product (shown to the right audience) can have powerful results. So just imagine, what if i were a lot more active as opposed to passive?

Hey Chris, great article. I was wondering if you have noticed anything different with your Amazon niche sites since the Google algo change? Have you lost traffic or do you build the sites up so much that they have good content. I’m new at this and would be curious if you think people need to change anything.
I would just open a business in a separate state and pay a registered agent located in that state to collect my paperwork etc. This isn’t my legal advice though, so if you were making a lot of money and got hosed by the shutdown I’d suggest contacting them for sure.
Paid advertising — this method requires an effective combination of ad copy, graphics, and a highly-clickable link. Unlike more traditional affiliate marketing strategies, paid advertising (through pay-per-click ads) earn you money regardless of whether a reader buys the product or not. Services like Google’s AdSense make this quick and easy for you, and can even supply you with an advertising code.
In addition, you’re already going to pay for Facebook advertising. You might as well get the most value from the service by letting the company provide your bandwidth and storage. It won’t cost you any more to host your files on Facebook.
Every story you read about affiliate marketing, is like a cocaine story. There is a pusher in there, trying to promote or push their product or service to you, whilst at all time keeping you mesmerized by the promise of the big affiliate income source.
As I said at the top, I’m glad that Facebook created these resources. Many of them are quite valuable and are great for new advertisers. It gives me a viable destination that I can send people to who are in need of that type of education.
Although the 8% commission may be a little high, and there is no guarantee that this many people will actually purchase the product within the affiliate window, it does illustrate that there is a great opportunity for affiliate links on Youtube.
Some users may be so entranced by the visual aspect of your video that they will turn the sound on, but on the other hand, you could lose a lot of viewers if your video’s message can only be understood by turning on the sound. The best solution is to simply add captions to explain the essential points of your video advertisement.
Theme – you don’t need a special theme for affiliate marketing, you probably just need a blog. I recommend StudioPress themes since that’s what Yoast, Matt Cutts (from Google), and use. Matt Mullenweg, founder of WordPress also recommends them. One of the biggest mistakes I made was using a theme from Themeforest… since they’re built by independent developers who may stop making updates to their theme. This happened to me and I hear horror stories all the time about people having to switch themes and redesign their entire site. I’ve been using the same StudioPress theme (Outreach Pro) for 3 years. Their themes are lightweight (load fast), SEO-friendly via optimized code, secure, and they have a huge selection of plugins for the Genesis Framework and an awesome community in the Genesis WordPress Facebook Group. They include documentation for setting it up and will serve you for many, many years.
